Vocal skills for today's church! • Praise & Worship
This workshop will offer vocal guidance for singers and praise team members desiring to enhance their knowledge of: • Developing a new vocal style
Friday Master Class Vocal master classes will allow attendees to observe gifted voice coaches working with singers in open sessions. Singers will work with the master class teacher in a format that allows for questions and discussions. Those in attendance will observe, learn and see immediate improvements in the singers, right before their eyes. How the singers will be chosen to work with the master class teacher: The singers will be selected from those in attendance. All registrants will be asked to fill out a form indicating their vocal style. If you wish to be considered for the master class, you are asked to bring either an accompaniment track or sheet music (no copies please) to the sessions. Please understand that because of time limitations, not all in attendance will have the opportunity to perform and the opportunity to perform is in no way guaranteed or implied. Saturday Workshop This workshop is designed to equip the singer to move from an unexciting conventional approach to a vibrant new and updated singing style. Workshop classes will be taught by some of the most respected vocal coaches in the country. Their students have received many Dove awards and Grammy nominations. Staying true to our mission statement the direction and content of the Christian Singers Workshop is decidedly and unapologetically non-classical. In the breakout sessions you will learn about belt voice, how to change your vocal style, and how to define “pop” contemporary styles. There will also be a session specifically designed for the gospel singer. A vocal master class will be held where you can actually see a live singer improve right on the spot. This has become one of the most talked about and exciting times of the workshop. There will also be classes that deal with stage movement both for soloists and praise teams. This is an area of vocal study that Roger and Byron feel is a particularly weak link in a singer’s development. Roger has assisted various Atlanta-area doctors with singers in need of vocal rehabilitation. Because of this work, a vocal health and maintenance class is offered. This class has always been extremely well attended. Most vocal teachers/coaches have no training in the area of non-classical vocal technique. You are invited to meet and study under a group of credentialed vocal coaches who are. It will be a wonderful time of learning, worshiping, and spiritual renewal. We will see you at the workshop!
One-on-one Sessions A limited number of private voice lessons will be available. Selection of your instructor is on a first come, first serve basis. This has been one of our most requested offerings since vocal coaches trained in non-classical techniques are so difficult to find. The one-on-one sessions are an additional fee above the registration fees. Complete information will be included in the confirmation email you will receive after we process your registration. Please note: you must be registered for either the master class or the workshop to take advantage of the one-on-one sessions and can only sign up for the day you are attending (if you are only attending on Friday you cannot sign up for a Saturday one-on-one session). |
